Museums and galleries have a range of local impacts, including promoting education and well-being and a sense of identification with their locality. The national Taking Part survey has demonstrated the links between participation in cultural activity and community cohesion. Therefore this measure will focus on engagement by the adult population (aged 16 plus) who say they have attended a museum or art gallery in the local area at least once in the preceding 12 months.
