Reliability The indicator excludes emergency bed-days with the following Primary diagnosis codes - A00-B99, relating to infectious and viral diseases. O00-Q99, relating to abortion and complications and abnormalities arising in labour, delivery and the neonatal and perinatal periods. External cause codes - V01-V99, relating to vehicular accidents.
Additional information and context
Background information Methods for population weights at LA level are still to be confirmed. Existing methodology for weighting for PCTs is consistent with the DH resource allocation: weighted capitation formula (population weighted for age and need).
